The walking beam (in blue) pushes articles (in pink)  forward, and the material is left stationary in the return stroke of the walking beam until the next cycle. The mechanism is for moving articles with intermittent advancement. The eight-bar mechanism allows moving more then one article, as compared to a fourbar walking beam.
