For certain installation scenarios, you are given an option to include or omit Documentation. If you did not omit the Documentation from your installation, you have access to the following information: >> Getting Started The Getting Started book provides a product overview, lists the product prerequisites, and provides detailed instructions for installing and configuring the Application Server. The product package includes a printed copy of the Getting Started. You can access HTML and PDF copies of the Getting Started within the Documentation Center. Or you can open the Getting Started files directly: - Use Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 3 or a Web browser with an Acrobat plug-in to open: \web\doc\begin_here\as3stmsb.pdf - Use a Web browser to open: \web\doc\begin_here\as3stmsb.html >> Documentation Center The Documentation Center provides easy access to the product programming documentation, the Getting Started, the Administrative Console Help, the Javadoc, the Web site, and other product resources. To access the Documentation Center, you need a Web browser that supports HTML 4, Cascading Stylesheets (CSS), and Java applets. Examples of such browsers are Netscape Navigator 4.07 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher. Open: \web\doc\begin_here\index.html >> Administrative Console Help The Administrative Console is a Java program that provides the systems management interface for the Application Server. The Help includes a tutorial on how to perform the primary tasks, help for dialogs, and help for input fields. To access the Help, you need a Web browser that supports HTML 4, Cascading Stylesheets (CSS), and Java applets. Examples of such browsers are Netscape Navigator 4.07 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 and higher. You can access the Help within the Administrative Console. To access the Help outside of the Console, use your browser to open: \web\help\helpcon.htm Note: See Accessing the Product Web Site for information about documentation updates, the product Release Notes, and other Web resources. ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION AVAILABLE ON THE WEB SITE >> Release Notes The product Release Notes describe known problems, limitations, and workarounds for Version 3.02. See the Library page of the product Web site (instructions below) for the current Release Notes. >> Administrative tutorial The administrative tutorial discusses how, when, and why to perform the central administrative tasks. Its many screen captures demonstrate configuring and securing an application comprised of sample files that ship with the server. The administrative tutorial is available from the WebSphere Application Server CD root AND from the product Web site. The most updated version will be available on the Web site. Currently, the tutorial is available only in English. The tutorial is contained in a ZIP file. Extract the tutorial files (one HTML file and several GIF files) into the help directory of your WebSphere Application Server installation to allow you to access the tutorial from links in the Documentation Center. You can also access the tutorial by opening the file guitut.htm. >> Help for Web-based administrative console preview The release includes a preview version of a lightweight WebSphere Application Server administrative console that operates through your Web browser.
