CertTrainer Installation: To start installing CertTrainer, run setup.exe from the CD-ROM root directory. Instructions: CertTrainer Help  System Requirements Installation CertTrainer ExamSim E-Book CertCam DriveTime Technical Support System Requirements CertTrainer requires Windows 95 or higher and Internet Explorer 4.0 or above and 70 MB of hard disk space for full installation. Installation You must install CertTrainer to your hard disk to access all of its features. However, you may browse the E-Book from your CD-Drive without any installation. The CertCam AVI clips require that the CD be in the drive to be viewed. The DriveTime audio files will play automatically in multi-mode CD players such as in modern stereo systems and most late model cars. Clicking on the "Install Now" button will launch the familiar InstallShield program. This program copies all of the necessary files to your hard disk and creates a program group named "CertTrainer".  To start CertTrainer, use Start | Programs | CertTrainer. Note: During installation you will be asked to install a Codec file required for playing the instructional AVI clips. Uninstall You must have the CertTrainer CD in your CD-ROM drive in order to uninstall the application. CertTrainer CertTrainer provides a complete review of each exam objective, organized by chapter. You should read each objective summary and make certain that you understand each one before proceeding to the next. If you are uncertain about any information, use the "In Depth" button to launch Internet Explorer and spend some time reading the corresponding section from the Study Guide. Use the CertCam button to view  short AVI clips illustrating various exercises in the chapter. Note there is an audio explanation accompanying the video clips so be sure your speakers are turned on and the volume is adjusted as necessary.  Once you have completed the objective review for a chapter, you can launch the Skill Assessment quiz to test your grasp of each objective. Once you complete the quiz, you are presented with a score for that chapter indicating whether further study is recommended.  ExamSim As its name implies, ExamSim provides you with a simulation of an actual certification exam. The number of questions, the type of questions, and the time allowed are intended to be an accurate representation of the exam environment. Note, however, that Microsoft may modify these exam characteristics at any time and you should check the Microsoft certification web site for up to the minute information.  ExamSim offers both standard and adaptive testing modes. Select your preference from the main ExamSim start page before beginning the exam. When you launch the exam simulator, a digital clock display will appear in the upper left of your screen. The clock will continue to count down to zero unless you choose to end the exam earlier by clicking "End Exam". Once the clock reaches zero, or when you select "End Exam", you will be taken to a report indicating your overall score. At this time you will have the option to review the exam questions you answered incorrectly to learn from your mistakes. There are four types of questions on the exam:   Multiple Choice. These questions have one correct answer that you indicate by selecting the appropriate check box.   Multiple-Multiple Choice.  These questions require more than one correct answer. Indicate each correct answer by selecting the appropriate check box.   Simulations.  These questions simulate actual Windows 2000 menus and dialog boxes. After reading the question, you are required to select the appropriate settings to most accurately meet the objectives of the question.   Case Scenarios.  These are a series of questions based on a single scenario. You will need to reference the scenario and objectives to answer each question.    E-Book The entire contents of the Study Guide are provided in HTML form. Launching the E-Book will automatically launch your default web browser. Although the files are optimized for Internet Explorer, they can also be viewed with other browsers including Netscape Communicator.   CertCam CertCam AVI clips provide detailed examples of key certification objectives. These clips are integrated into the CertTrainer study system, and are also available through a special CertCam menu. These clips walk step-by-step through various system configurations and are narrated by Thomas Shinder, an experienced MCSE and MCT. Close the Windows Media Player when finished viewing a CertCam clip to return to CertTrainer. You must have the CertTrainer CD in your CD-ROM drive to access the CertCam clips. Note there is audio accompanying the video files so be sure your speakers are turned on. Also, if you have more than one CD-ROM drive, the CertTrainer CD-ROM must be in your first or primary drive.   The CertCam AVI clips are recorded and produced using TechSmith's Camtasia Producer. Since AVI clips can be very large, ExamSim uses TechSmith's special AVI Codec to compress the clips. The file named tsccvid.dll is copied to your Windows\System folder when you install CertTrainer. If the AVI clip runs with audio but no video, you may need to re-install the file from the CD. Browse to the "bin" folder, and run TSCC.EXE.    DriveTime DriveTime audio tracks will automatically play when you insert the CD into a standard CD player, such as the one in your car. These tracks provide you with certification summaries for each chapter and are the perfect way to study while commuting. Note some audio players will recognize the software data as audio track one - in this case, use your audio CD controls to skip to audio track two to begin listening to DriveTime.
