Rollover each connection to find out more information.
Dial-up
Most dial-up connections today run at 28.8 or 56 Kbps (Kilobits per second).
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network)
Not only is ISDN faster than dial-up, but it has the ability to run multiple channels at one time. For example, single channel ISDN runs at 128 Kbps, but if you have a dual-channel ISDN, your connection will be 256 Kbps.
Satellite
Satellite connections average 400 Kbps, but can be disabled by poor weather conditions.
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line)
DSL can dowload data from 1.5 to 8.4 Mbps, and offers a consistent connection rate. However, the upload speed for DSL is considerably slower 16 to 640 Kbps.
Cable
A cable connection runs at about 10 Mbps megabits per second for downloads and 500 Kbps for uploads. However, all cable subscribers in the same neighborhood share the connection, so if many people are using the service at the same time, your individual connection will be much slower than 10 Mbps.
T1
A dedicated T1 line runs at 1.5 Mbps; a dedicated T3 runs at 43 Mbps. And there is no sharing, so you know you will always have a fast connection available to you.
