Changing the Look of Text



When you add text to a slide, it is formatted according to the slide design. But what if you want the text to look different from the preset design? There are several ways you can modify the look of the text in your presentation.



To change the look of text, first select the text you want to modify.


To change the font:

  1. Click the Font arrow on the Formatting toolbar.
  2. Select the font you want from the list.


To change the font size:

  1. Click the Font Size arrow on the Formatting toolbar.
  2. Select the size you want from the list.


To change the font color:

  1. Click the Font Color arrow on the Formatting toolbar.
  2. Select the color you want from the color palette.


To add character effects:

  1. Bold—click the Bold button.
  2. Italic—click the Italic button.
  3. Underline—click the Underline button.
  4. Shadow—click the Shadow button.


Initially, the font color palette displays only colors from the scheme applied to your presentation. To use a different color, click "More Colors" on the color palette and add a custom color.

Click Font... on the Format menu to open the Font dialog box and make any changes to the text.

Use the following keyboard shortcuts:

  1. Bold = Ctrl + B
  2. Italic = Ctrl + I
  3. Underline = Ctrl + U

Use the Formatting toolbar:

  1. Click the Increase Font button to make the text larger.
  2. Click the Decrease Font button to make the text smaller.
