Adding Diagrams to Slides

Diagrams are figures which visually organize your information. PowerPoint includes preset diagrams which you can modify to display your own information. When you insert or select a diagram, it appears with drawing space around it and sizing handles. Use the handles to resize the diagram if necessary. A floating toolbar, customized to the particular diagram type, also appears. Use it to select elements, change layout and format, and insert shapes.

To create a diagram:

  1. Click Diagram... on the Insert Menu.
  2. Click a diagram type and then click OK.
  3. A preset diagram appears with drawing space and handles around it for sizing, if necessary. Notice there is also a floating toolbar customized to the type of diagram you selected.
  4. To enter information, just click in an element and type.
  5. To add parts to the diagram, click inside the element you want to expand, click the Insert Shape arrow, and click an option.
