Changing the Design of a Single Slide

Perhaps you want to change the design on just one slide in your presentation. PowerPoint makes it simple to change the design of one slide in the Slide Design task pane.

To change the design of a single slide:

  1. Select the slide you want to change on the Slides tab.
  2. Click the Design button on the Formatting toolbar to display the Slide Design task pane.
  3. Roll your mouse over the template you want, and then click the down arrow.
  4. Select Apply to selected slides from the menu.

  • To apply a template to more than one slide in a presentation. Use the Shift key or Ctrl key on your keyboard to select more than one slide, and click the template you want from the Slide Design task pane.
  • If you don't see the Apply to selected slides option, select Options on the Tools menu. Click the Edit Tab and be sure Multiple Masters under Disable new features is not selected.

A slide with a different design from the rest of the presentation will stand out. So only use this technique when you are sure the slide should have a significantly different look from the rest of the presentation—otherwise, it might seem jarring and be distracting to your audience.

Right-click the template and select Apply to selected slides from the menu.
