Adding Action Buttons to Slides

Action buttons are predefined buttons which you can add to your presentation. Action buttons include common tasks used when running a presentation. Next, Previous, Home, Help, and Return are all examples of action buttons.

To add an action button to a slide:

  1. Click the AutoShapes button, point to Action Buttons, and click a button type.
  2. Click on the slide where you want the button.
  3. In the Action Settings dialog box, change the options to link to a slide, run a program, run a macro, perform an action, or play a sound.
  4. Click OK to apply the settings to the action button.

In the Action Settings dialog box, you can set the options for a button to be performed when it is clicked or when the mouse rolls over the button.

When you insert an action button, the options in the Action Settings dialog box are preset for you. For example, if you insert a Home icon, the hyperlink is set to the first slide of the presentation. Remember, these are universally recognized icons, so be careful when changing their settings.

Click the Action Buttons button on the AutoShapes toolbar.
