Using Navigation Controls in Tables

Tables often contain many records and can be difficult to navigate. At the bottom of the table window, you'll find navigation buttons to help you move quickly to the beginning or end of a table. You can jump to a specific record number or advance through the table one record at a time. There's also a button to automatically insert a new blank record at the end of the table.

To navigate among records in a large table:

  1. Move to the next record by clicking the Next Record button.
  2. Move to the last record by clicking the Last Record button.
  3. Move to the previous record by clicking the Previous Record button.
  4. Return to the first record in the table by clicking the First Record button.
  5. Move to a specific record number by typing the number in the Specific Record box, then pressing the Enter or Tab key.
  6. Click the New Record button to automatically insert a new blank record at the end of the table.

You can also use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to move through records. In this program, though, you'll need to use the Next Record and Previous Record navigation buttons.
Navigating through a query is the same as navigating through a table. When you run a query, the results window includes record navigation buttons at the bottom of the window — just like a table.
There are many ways to enter a new blank record at the end of the table:
  1. Click the New Record button on the toolbar.
  2. Click the New Record button on the navigation bar.
  3. Use the keyboard shortcut + (press the Ctrl button and the + button at the same time) Note: This keyboard shortcut does not work in the simulated interface in this program.
  4. Select New Record from the Insert menu.
