Creating a Table in Design View

Sometimes the Table Design Wizard doesn't offer a sample that fits your needs. In this case, you might want to design your table using Design View.

To create a table using Design view:

  1. Double-click Create table in Design view.
  2. Type the name of the first field.
  3. Press Tab.
  4. Press Tab again to accept text as the data type.
  5. Type a useful description of the field.
  6. Press Tab to go to the next field.

The next step in creating a table is to set the primary key and modify field data types. These concepts are covered in other tasks.
You can start a new table in Design view by:
  1. Double-click Create table in Design view.
  2. Click the New button. Click Design View. Click OK.
  3. Select Table from the Insert Menu. Click Design View. Click OK.
