Changing Alignment

Alignment refers to the vertical and horizontal placement and the orientation of the text. Vertical alignment controls where the text is displayed vertically in the cell—at the top, in the center, or at the bottom. Horizontal alignment controls whether the text appears left-aligned, centered, or right-aligned in the cell. Orientation allows you to rotate the text in a cell, changing the way it is displayed.



To change text alignment:

  1. Select the cells you want to change.
  2. Select Cells… from the Format menu, and select the Alignment tab.
  3. Select from the drop-down lists to change the vertical and horizontal alignment.
  4. Click the Degrees box and enter the number of degrees you want under Orientation.
  5. Click OK.
