Changing Worksheet Orientation

Your worksheets can be laid out in two different ways—with portrait orientation or with landscape orientation. Portrait orientation is when the height of the page is greater than the width (like a portrait hanging on a wall). If your workbook has many columns of information, you may want to use landscape orientation, where the width of the page is greater than the height.

To change the orientation of a worksheet:

  1. Click Page Setup... on the File menu.
  2. On the Page tab, in the Orientation section, click the radio button for the orientation you want.
  3. Click OK.

In Excel, worksheet orientation most often affects the printed worksheet. To view how your worksheet will print, click the Print Preview button.
