Adding Headers and Footers

To add a header and a footer:

  1. Select Header and Footer... on the View menu.
  2. The Page Setup dialog opens to the Header/Footer tab.
  3. Click the arrow next to the Header: or Footer: box, and select one of the predefined formats.
  4. Click OK.

You can tailor the look of your headers and footers by clicking either the Custom Header... or Custom Footer... buttons. For example, to show page numbers centered at the bottom of each page:

  1. Click the Custom Footer... button.
  2. Click in the Center section..
  3. To add a page number, click the Page Number button.
  4. Click OK to close the Footer dialog box.
  5. Click OK again to add the Footer.

To add a header or footer to your workbook, select Header and Footer... on the View menu. Next, select a header or footer from the drop-down lists in the dialog box. You can tailor the look of your headers and footers by clicking the Custom Header... or Custom Footer... button. Watch as customized page numbers are added to the footer of the workbook.
