Positioning Graphics
Excel allows you to not only move a graphic around on your worksheet, but also to stack objects on top of each other. By default, Excel will place the graphics one on top of the other in the order they are inserted into the worksheet, but you can reorder these images, changing the look of your stacked images. By stacking graphics, you can create a sophisticated, layered look to your workbook. You can also group objects essentially turning many objects into one object.
To position graphics on your worksheet:
- Select the graphic you want to move.
- When the cursor changes to the move cursor , click and drag your mouse until the image is where you want it to be.
To reorder graphics on your worksheet:
- Select the graphic you want to move.
- Click Draw on the Drawing toolbar, point to Order, and select an option. Selecting Send to Back places the graphic behind all the other graphics. Selecting Bring to Front places the graphic on top of all the other graphics. Selecting the Bring Forward and Send Backward options moves a graphic up or down one layer.
To group graphics:
- Click the first graphic you want to group.
- Hold down the Shift key, and click the next graphic you want to add to the group.
- Continue holding down the Shift key and clicking graphics until all the graphics for the group are selected.
- Click the Draw button on the Drawing toolbar, and select Group.
- To ungroup objects, click the grouped object, then select Ungroup from the Draw menu off the Drawing toolbar.
