Opening a Word Outline as a Presentation
Perhaps you want to create a presentation based on a document you created in Word. If you used heading styles in your document, then it should easily import into PowerPoint. Each Heading 1 style becomes the title on the slide, and each Heading 2 style becomes the main text on the slide. Be sure to use these styles when creating your document if you plan on importing the file into PowerPoint.
To create a presentation from a Word outline:
- Select Slides from Outline... on the Insert menu.
- Select the file you want to insert.
- Click the Insert button to create a presentation based on the Word document.
- Click the Layout button to change the layout of any slide.
When you insert an outline, all the slides will use the default slide design. Use the Slide Design task pane to change design. Use the Slide Master view to make global changes to your presentation.
You can import many file formats from Word, including Word document (.doc), Plain text (.txt), Rich Text Format (.rtf), and HTML (.htm).
