Adding Diagrams to Slides
Diagrams are figures which visually organize your information. PowerPoint includes preset diagrams which you can modify to display your own information. When you insert or select a diagram, it appears with drawing space around it and sizing handles. Use the handles to resize the diagram if necessary. A floating toolbar, customized to the particular diagram type, also appears. Use it to select elements, change layout and format, and insert shapes.
To create a diagram:
- Click Diagram... on the Insert menu.
- Click a diagram type and then click OK.
- A preset diagram appears with drawing space and handles around it for sizing, if necessary. Notice there is also a floating toolbar customized to the type of diagram you selected.
- To enter information, click in an element and type your text.
- To add parts to the diagram, click inside the element you want to expand, click the Insert Shape arrow, and select an option.
You can insert a slide with a diagram placeholder by clicking the
New Slide button and then selecting a layout. Select the
diagram thumbnail in the placeholder and insert your image. PowerPoint places the diagram in the slide layout.
To insert a diagram, you can also click the
Insert Diagram or Organization Chart button on the Drawing toolbar.
