Using Presentation Navigation Tools


If you haven't set up your presentation to advance automatically, then you will need to navigate through your presentation. You can navigate through your presentation using your mouse or your keyboard.



To navigate through your presentation using only the keyboard:

  1. To advance to the next slide: press Enter or the spacebar.
  2. To go to the previous slide: press Backspace.
  3. To jump to a specific slide: type the number of the slide and press Enter.
  4. To leave the presentation: press Esc.

To navigate through your presentation using only the mouse:

  1. To advance to the next slide: click the mouse or right-click and select Next.
  2. To go to the previous slide: right-click and select Previous.
  3. To jump to a specific slide: right-click, point to Go to Slide, and select the name of the slide.
  4. To leave the presentation: right-click and select End Show.


  • If you want to see the last slide you viewed, but it is not part of the slide order, right-click the presentation and select Previously Viewed on the menu.
  • To view a custom show, right-click the presentation, point to Custom shows, and select a slide show.

You can also use the Slide Show toolbar, located in the lower left corner of the slide, to navigate through a presentation.

  • Click the Next button to navigate to the next slide in the presentation.
  • Click the Previous button to navigate to the previous slide in the presentation.
  • Click the Slide Show menu for access to more powerful navigation commands, such as navigating to a specific slide.
