Developer/2000 Offers InterOffice Users a Fully Integrated Tool Set for Building Mass-Deployment Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 13, 1995-Oracle Corp. today announced that Developer/2000-Oracle's scalable, second generation client/server tool set-will be optimized for Oracle InterOffice, a suite that streamlines mass deployment of the computing environment. Tight integration between the two products will give users a fully-optimized tool set for building mass-deployment applications. Developer/2000 will support all of the functionality available in InterOffice, including support for data, text, and video, the latest messaging and workflow technology, document management, and World Wide Web, Intranet and Internet access.

Developer/2000 and Oracle InterOffice will work together to provide limitless development opportunities. For example, by combining video, workflow, and document management capabilities and linking to the Web, companies can use Developer/2000 to develop advanced just-in-time order processing systems linking to their supply chain to improve manufacturing efficiency.

"Developer/2000's extremely rich development environment will allow customers to develop applications that take advantage of the range of services delivered in Oracle InterOffice," said William Dwight, vice president of engineering at Oracle. "By integrating Developer/2000 with key business services, like messaging, workflow and document management, Oracle will deliver the functionality customers need to build enterprise business automation applications."

Developer/2000 will enhance the functionality of Oracle InterOffice by:

Integrated Products for Complete Enterprise and Workgroup Solutions Developer/2000 is the first client/server development tool to deliver workgroup-through-enterprise scalability and the only tool on the market which uses the same programming language on both the client and the server. Scalable deployment is a reality with Developer/2000 because of several core strengths found in the product including drag-and-drop application partitioning, object-orientation, team productivity and tight integration with Oracle's Designer/2000, the only second generation client-server modeling tools available today. In addition to offering the tightest integration with Oracle7, Developer/2000 supports heterogeneous database access to a wide variety of databases including DB2, Informix, Sybase and CA-OpenIngres.

Oracle InterOffice puts universal data at the fingertips of every user, by enabling companies to develop mission-critical applications with enterprise-class performance, reliability and security in a massively deployed, easy-to-use, client/server environment. By streamlining the deployment of the computing environment beyond the data center, Oracle had enabled companies to rapidly equip a single office workgroup, or integrate thousands of branch offices, sales regions, and retail stores with a common set of tightly-knit business applications and productivity tools.
