The PCQuest CD-ROM interface has been optimized for 800x600 resolution, so you must be run X Window (KDE or GNOME) at this resolution. If you are not, issue the command:
Xconfigurator
at the Linux command prompt (text mode) or a terminal window within X. Follow the instructions given by the wizard. After probing, opt for 'Let me choose' to select your settings. When prompted to select from a list of resolutions, select 800x600 for the highest color depth (usually 24). Now restart X Window, by pressing CTRL+ATL+BACKSPACE, if you are already in X, else issue the startx command if you are at the Linux command prompt. After using the PCQuest CD-ROM, you can revert to your earlier resolution by running Xconfigurator.
If you are in KDE, you must slide off the K Panel to see the interface in full screen, else the PCQuest News Ticker (a scrolling applet of latest news) won't be visible.
If you are using GNOME, drag the window from downwards, to see the ticker
While searching for the software carried on the CD, using the text field in the upper left corner of the interface, you may get an error as:
Warning: hscroll Class: XmScrollBar The scrollbar minimum value is greater than or equal to the scrollbar maximum value
Ignore this error. And press Ok to continue.
Note: Any menu on the CD interface that you access for the first time will be a bit slow.
