To draw with the pen during a presentation, follow these steps:
1. Right-click, choose Pointer Options from the shortcut menu, and then choose Pen. The pointer changes into a pen.
2. Drag the pointer and then click and drag to draw lines and shapes onscreen.
3. Press Esc when you have finished using the pen.
TIP: Hold down the Shift key as you drag the mouse if you want to draw
a straight vertical or horizontal line.
Pen marks are not permanent. They are much easier to erase than graffiti. As soon as you move to the next slide, the pen marks are wiped clean. Return to the slide again and you see that all the pen marks are gone. However, if you must remove pen marks right away, right-click, choose Screen, and then choose Erase Pen.
Most people aren't very good at extemporizing , so they need speaker's notes to read from during a presentation. "Writing the Words on the Slides," in Chapter 17, describes how to enter speaker's notes. When you print the speaker's notes, you get one page for each slide in the presentation. At the top of the page is an image of the slide; at the bottom are your notes. Follow these steps to print the speaker's notes:
1. From any view, choose File | Print. You see the Print dialog box shown in Figure 19-5.
2. In the Print What drop-down list, choose Notes Pages.
3. Click OK.
PowerPoint prints a copy of the slide at the top of the page and your notes at the bottom.
To print transparencies, start by loading your printer tray with transparencies. You might have to consult the dreary manual that came with your printer to find out if it can handle transparencies and which kind of transparencies to use. Follow these steps to tell PowerPoint that you want to print transparencies:
1. Choose File | Page Setup. You see the dialog box shown in Figure 19-8.
2. In the Slides Sized For drop-down list, choose Overhead.
3. If necessary, change the Width, Height, Number Slides From, and Orientation settings.
Click OK, and follow the earlier instruction for printing.
