Favorites

The Favorites button displays the Favorites bar along the left side of Internet Explorer, as shown in Figure 23-10. This bar contains buttons you can click to go to channel web sites and favorite web pages. If you click a folder button in the bar, the bar expands to show the web pages included in that folder. Microsoft and your ISP add some web pages to your Favorites folder for you to begin with, but you'll probably want to add your own favorite web pages to your Favorites folder so that they appear on this bar. The next sections describe how to add and work with your favorites.

ADDING A FAVORITE TO YOUR FAVORITES FOLDER

If you find or discover a web page that you want to revisit, you can tell Internet Explorer to record the web site's URL in your Favorites folder. To add the web page you're currently viewing to the Favorites folder, choose Favorites | Add To Favorites. Then, when Internet Explorer displays the Add Favorite dialog box, click the Create In button so that Internet Explorer expands the dialog box to show the Favorites folder's subfolders. Select the folder you want to store the web page's URL in, and then click OK.

NOTE: If you want to create a new subfolder, select the folder into which you want to place the subfolder, click the New Folder button, and then enter a name for the new folder using the dialog box that Internet Explorer provides.
